Motorcycle (KS state-required)

Kansas treats motorcycles like autos for mandatory coverage. You must carry:

  • Liability — minimum $25,000/$50,000/$10,000 (bodily injury per person/per accident, property damage)

  • PIP — not required (no-fault medical)

  • UM/UIM — required, $25,000/$50,000 minimum

Optional: collision, comprehensive, custom equipment/accessories coverage, guest passenger liability, and roadside. Helmets are required only for riders under 18.

RV / Camper (depends on type/use)

  • Motorized RVs (Class A, B, C motorhomes) — treated like a vehicle: liability, PIP, UM/UIM, collision, and comprehensive required to drive on Kansas roads, same as a personal auto.

  • Towable RVs (travel trailers, fifth-wheels, pop-ups) — no separate liability required while towed (your auto policy's liability typically extends while you're driving). But the trailer itself (its structure and contents) isn't covered by auto — you add a separate RV/trailer policy for comprehensive, collision, and contents.

Optional RV-specific add-ons: full-timer's coverage (like homeowners for people living in the RV), vacation liability (for incidents while parked at a site), and roadside specific to RVs.

Golf Cart (no KS state insurance requirement)

Kansas doesn't require insurance for golf carts used on golf courses or private property. Liability often extends from your homeowners policy for off-premises incidental use, but coverage is thin and disputed.

  • If you drive it on public roads in a community that allows it (some Kansas municipalities permit low-speed operation), you generally need a separate golf cart/liability policy — auto policies typically exclude golf carts used off private property.

  • Coverage typically includes liability, and optionally comprehensive/collision for damage or theft.

Boat (no KS state insurance requirement)

Kansas doesn't require boat insurance, but marinas, lenders, and some lakes often do. A typical policy provides:

  • Liability — injury to others or damage to their property/boats

  • Hull & physical damage — collision, sinking, fire, theft, storms (often "agreed value" rather than actual cash value)

  • Medical payments — for you and passengers

  • Uninsured watercraft — protection from at-fault boaters with no coverage

  • Optional: on-water towing/salvage, personal effects, fuel spill liability, and trailer coverage

A few worth knowing: your homeowners policy may offer limited theft coverage for small boats (often under $1,000–$1,500 and under a certain horsepower), but anything larger needs a dedicated watercraft policy. PWCs (Jet Skis) are usually a separate endorsement or policy, not automatically included.
